Qualifications:

By direct appointment of a candidate who is legally qualified to pract1ce as a Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria.

Post: Senior State Counsel, GL. 10

Qualification:

By direct appointment of a candidate possessing the qualification specified for State Counsel, GL.09 above plus at least one year post-call cognate experience.

Conditions of Service

Each of the posts is pensionable and in case of new entrants into Public service, their appointment will be on probation for a period of two (2) years. Other conditions of service will be as prescribed, for the time being, for officers of equivalent grades in the Civil Service of Oyo State of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, it is to be noted that the Oyo State Civil Service Commission reserves the right for final selection as deemed fit

My Administration is Committed to Enhancing Independence of Judiciary—Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, said on Monday, that his administration remains committed to the actualisation of the Independence of the Judiciary.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, at the opening of the 2019/2020 Legal Year, stated that his administration would provide conducive atmosphere for the effective performance of the Judiciary in the state.

The Islamic Special Service for the opening of the 2019/2020 Legal Year was held at the Central Mosque, Oja’ba, Ibadan, while the Christian Special Service for the same purpose, was led by the Secretary  to the State Government,  Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun and held at the St. James Cathedral, Oke-Bola, Ibadan.

During his speech, Governor Makinde urged the judiciary to shun bias and delay in the discharge of their duties on dispensation of Justice, noting that Justice delayed is Justice denied.

A statement signed by the Special Assistant (Print Media) to Governor Makinde, Moses Alao, quoted the Governor as saying that his administration would back the Judiciary in the State to work effectively by providing everything it needed to perform optimally.

He said: “We are not going to allow the Judiciary to be coming cap in hands and be begging for their rights. Every effort will be made to make the dispensation of Justice easier in this regime.”

He also enjoined the Muslim Clerics to continue to pray for the Judiciary on the discharge of their duties, noting that prayer was needed to ensure effective dispensation of Justice.

Governor Makinde hinted that his administration would continue to interact with all other arms of Government in a very peaceful manner.

In their separate remarks, the Deputy Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (Ibadan Branch), Mr.Ibrahim Lawal and the chairman, Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria, urged the Executive arm of Government to allow the independence of the Judiciary and provide necessary financial support for them always.

“We urge the Executive arm of Government not to pay lip service to the independence of the Judiciary.

“We reiterate our demand for the establishment of Shari’a Court in the Judiciary would be asked to give their stewardship on the day of Judgement.”

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Bisi Ilaka; Head of Service, Alhaja Amidat Agboola; Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Fausat Sanni; Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Rahman Abdul-Raheem and the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Kola Balogun, were also in attendance at the event.

We will Deploy Modern Ways of Dispute Resolution – Oyo Attorney General

Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Oyo State, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, has disclosed that Governor Seyi Makinde led administration will deploy modern ways of disputes resolution into the judiciary system of the State to enhance improved justice administration in the State.

Prof. Oyewo, disclosed this while hosting the Management Team of a Radio Station based in Ibadan  who were on a courtesy call to his office in Ibadan .

The Attorney General noted that it is imperative for the judiciary to focus on new approach for justice administration such as mediation, saying that its adoption will hasten justice dispensation and promote peaceful management of conflicts.

Prof. Oyewo said the existing mediation centres in the state will be well utilised, adding that legal frame work that would add valve to life of every citizen will be given upmost priority.

“This administration is not going to be selective in justice administration but ensure citizens have equal opportunity to fair justice. This will not only make the environment conducive for all but encourage developmental progress because once there is peace, there will be progress”

“Governor Seyi Makinde’s road map is based on Accessibility, Transparency and Accountability. At the Ministry of Justice, we will make sure that there is no misappropriation of Government resources , all social contracts will be guided by law to ensure the resources are prudently managed for the development of the State ”

The Attorney General however advocated mutual working relationship with the organisation and other media houses with a view to bringing governance closer to the people.

In her remarks, the General Manager of the Radio Station, Olufunmilayo Olasogba,

seeks prompt response on part of resource person who could respond to legal issues in the state at that might need clarification from Government end appropriate time to prevent unforeseen circumstances.

“We are here to congratulate you and solicit for your support by making information accessible to us for proper reportage.  Before your government came in, having access to information is been tight.  We don’t want to have an ear say  but get reactions from resource person at appropriate time  for us not to leave  in doubt ” She said.
